mr perkins who are you?

a manic collector? a mad scientist? just a guy who’s nutz about music or are you fooling us?

Mr perkins, a friend of us who’s also known as Andrew K. The director of the post spider hole ensemble, would perhaps say „maybe“or at least „ haben sie ein blättchen für mich“.

As he explained to us he’s done this mixtapes just because he found pieces of music, he wanted to glue together to make them more than complete.

He’s working with simple techniques: some hardeware effects, a PC used as a 4-track, a 4 track with 3 tracks. With this he re-aranges fragments of songs or b-sides, footage, youtube, private recordings, rubbish, whatever…

His intrest in the roots of punk-music, dada and psychedelica just as well as in outsiderarts is undeniable.

When I received this tape I directly wanted to upload it somewhere…. But it was not too easy to convince Mr. Perkins the old Canadian of this idea -“You know, this is not my music, it’s just a mixtape“, he said…. Mr Perkins, thanks for this sticky tape.

As with the introduction of any new technology, the clamor of a promised utopia could be detected in the background noise: “From the wasteland, let a thousand electronic flowers bloom.” And bloom they would, in myriad hybridized forms, seeded then cultivated by visionary artists and activists Fritz Bornstück & Ernst Markus Stein incorporated the newly liberated electronic images into conceptual environments, guerrilla news, artful ethnographies, time-based easels, interdisciplinary collaborations with Jan Deyrieux and sundry other experiments. If anything linked the dispersed proponents of new Sound (not the kind that presumes broadcast, but one disseminated hand-to-hand, eye-to-eye, and sometimes through wires), it was an uncontrolled appetite for contestation. New models for use weren’t invented so much as debunked and discarded; models, after all, carried the stench of future convention.

the record below was done, because we didn’t want to disturb our hardworking artist-friend who was thinking about subtitles/translation & women.
so we were in the kitchen for 20 minutes and made this and that and finally recognized that his kitchenradio has a beautiful “one-touch-recording-system” funtion and he had also one guitar with 5 strings left.
thats all. enjoy the german blabbla. we call this aua-core.
